Le Bouchon is a grade II listed, 300 year old Georgian building which has undergone an extensive refurbishment programme restoring the building to its former glory. The renovation period lasted in excess of 2 years, working many hours to create the right feel and ambience within this wonderful building, combining some of the original period features with furnishings and classically styled decoration that complements the building.

Sitting adjacent to Le Bouchon Brasserie & Hotel is the beautiful 14 mile Chelmer and Blackwater navigation canal which opened in 1797 and flows from Springfield Basin in Chelmsford to the sea lock at Heybridge Basin near Maldon.

Guests can enjoy a relaxing walk on the riverbank, take a riverboat cruise and sample some of the local ales from one of the many riverside public houses or hire a canoe or small boat and take in the peace and tranquility of the natural surroundings of the Beeleigh weir and the many locks along the channel.

We operate a Smart Chic dress code within the Main Restaurant. While we appreciate that the weather is warmer than usual, we do ask that the gentlemen wear trousers, and not shorts. Within our restaurant, we do not allow (but this list is not limited to) sports wear, hats and shorts on gentleman. The management reserve the right to turn away guests not adhering to our dress code. We thank you for your cooperation.

Whilst we try to update our menus as much as we can on our website, please note that these are only sample menus of what we can offer, and may change without notice.

Dear Sir/Madam,

Following the latest Government announcement where restaurants were advised they could re-open from 4th July, we have made the difficult decision to remain closed for the time being. This decision has been taken after careful consideration of the government guidelines with the interest of safety of our colleagues and community at the heart of our decision-making process.

We will be announcing our re-opening date in the coming weeks, via our mailing list & social media. At which time we will open our reservation systems giving you the time to plan your visit.
Whilst we are eager to re-open, ultimately the safety of our staff & customers is paramount. With this in mind we believe more notice is required before we are able to confidently welcome you back to our venues.

As a team we have spent much time during lockdown innovating, creating, maintaining, improving and getting ready to welcome you back. For your future safety and pleasure, we need more time to ensure everything is in place.

We are explicitly following the Government guidelines that are under constant review and would like to reassure all our guests that we will be undertaking strict health & safety measures and precautions before, during and after your visit, whilst maintaining serenity throughout our beautiful Restaurants & Hotel.

Our sincere apologies for any disappointment/inconvenience caused by the delay in our re-opening.
We miss you & look forward to welcoming you back in the not too distant future!

Thank you for your continued support & patience.
Kind Regards,
Le Bouchon & Le Benaix Team
